Student Spotlight
We wanted to take a moment to applaud and feature some of the recent outstanding work done by our MA Clinical Psychology students.
The Individuation Attachment Questionnaire (IAQ) is a recently constructed instrument designed to measure adult attachment style on a bidimensional level. It has the potential to provide a quick and convenient measure of personality development and clarify the dynamics, which underlie relationship stress. If the IAQ is to be used in future research, there is a need for psychometric information to increase confidence in the utility of the test. This study examines the psychometric properties of the IAQ by investigating the reliability of IAQ scales via analysis of inter-item consistency and examines validity through an exploration of its empirical relation to theoretically related measures.
The purpose of the thesis is to evaluate the psychometric properties of Allport and Ross' (1967) Intrinsic/Extrinsic Religious Orientation Scale (IEROS) with a cross-cultural sample obtained in Poland. Specifically, it was postulated that IEROS would be found to show cross-cultural validity, as reflected in a factor structure similar to that observed with English-speaking populations (e.g., Kirkpatrick, 1989), and adequate reliability. An investigation aimed at establishing the cross-cultural validity of the IEROS is significant in that it will provide evidence indicating that the instrument and its underlying conceptual underpinnings hold research potential for non-English speaking populations in a manner which allows comparison to English-speakers. It also will give a greater sense as to whether extant research is generalizable to cultures outside of the United States.
