Certified Teachers Seeking Initial Special Education Endorsement-Learning Disabilities or Emotionally Impaired/Behaviorally Disordered

An endorsement in Learning Disabilities or Emotionally Impaired/ Behaviorally Disordered may be obtained by individuals holding a valid teaching certificate.  

Completion of the following approved program for the respective area of endorsement desired is required. Transferable university course credit may be accepted where applicable. The following 39 credit hours of either respective program must be completed to receive each specific endorsement.

  •  EDU 5130 Principles of Learning, Development & Adjustment 3 cr.
  •  EDU 5260 Collaboration & Consultation in Education 3 cr.
  •  EDU 6000 Computer Uses in Education . 3 cr.
  •  EDU 6310 School & Classroom Management. 3 cr.
  •  SED 5120 Special Education in the Secondary Schools 3 cr.
  •  SED 5600 Exceptional Persons 3 cr.
  •  SED 5630 Identification & Assessment in Special Education 3 cr.
  •  SED 5670 Strategies for Teaching Mathematics & Language Arts to the Learning Disabled 3 cr.
  •  SED 5710 Learning Disabilities 3 cr.
  •  SED 5760 Educating the Learning Disabled 3 cr.
  •  SED 5850 Response to Intervention 3 cr.
  •  SED 6600 Student Teaching in Special Education: Learning Disabilities 6 cr.
