This program offers specialized training in the assessment and treatment of addictive disorders. With the Community Counseling program as a base, additional coursework is completed to fulfill requirements for competence in both substance (such as alcohol) and process (such as gambling) addictions. The program prepares individuals for working with addictions in a variety of settings, such as private and public agencies and rehabilitation centers, among others.
Individuals are eligible for both professional licensure as a counselor within the state of Michigan and certification as an addictions counselor (CAC) within the state of Michigan. The 54 credit hour program generally requires 2-3 years to complete.
This program offers specialized training in the areas of chemical dependency and addiction studies. With the Community Counseling program as a base, additional courses are taken to fulfill requirements for competence in chemical dependency and requirements for state certifications.
