Joseph E. Nolan

Associate Professor of Education, teaches courses in Special Education, Educational Technology, and Physical Education Methods. Joe’s interests include Universal Design for Living, Transition planning, the Computerized Writing Process Model for individuals with Learning Disabilities, and Physical Activity for Individuals with Disabilities.  He has presented internationally on Universal Design and its applications in community and education and currently researches technological approaches to remediating Learning Disabilities through Assistive Software and Digital Game Based Learning. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Albuquerque, M. Ed. from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), and a Ph. D. from Texas Woman’s University. He has previously taught at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and Irving Independent School District (Dallas). Joe joined the University in 2008.
