All media work us over completely. They are so pervasive in their personal, political, economic, aesthetic, psychological, moral, ethical, and social consequences that they leave no part of us untouched, unaffected, unaltered. The medium is the massage. Any understanding of social and cultural change is impossible without a knowledge of the way media work as environments. - M. Mcluhan

Essense of the E-Crit Major
Founded in 1999, Electronic Critique is a unique, multidisciplinary degree program designed for students who want to understand and contribute to the impact of technology on our culture. Students learn to combine critical thinking with technical skills in digital media, including Web development, video game design, video production, software engineering, and animation. They accomplish this by combining courses in English, Computer Information Systems, Communications, and Architectural Design, among others. Electronic Critique is one of the few tech-oriented programs in North America with a Liberal Arts focus.

E-Crit Career Paths
E-Crit prepares students for careers in Web and multimedia development, video production, video game design, marketing, journalism, education, etc. Students are encouraged to take a 3rd year co-op option, and are offered ample internship opportunities with local and national organizations ranging from the Detroit Writers Guild to the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. The program is geared toward highly motivated students with a diverse range of interests and an entrepreneurial spirit.
